About After School Club

Vision

To see ethnic children reach their full potential by providing a creative and healthy environment for their after school hours.

Objectives:

  • To build confidence and self esteem
  • To promote a sense of belonging
  • To improve the English learning of the children
  • To develop positive peer support for children
  • To promote general health and well being
  • To increase social skills and ability to understand other cultures

Afterschool Club Activities

Started in Sept 2010, the CIP After School Club meets each Tuesday (Portadown) and Thursday (Craigavon) afternoon and is aimed at primary school children whose first language is not English. It provides an opportunity for children from a variety of nationalities to work, play and interact in an intercultural environment. The programme includes a variety of activities such as games, sport, art, craft and films. The activities are directed by the CIP Ethnic Youth Inclusion Worker, who is assisted by bilingual volunteers.

Additional activities are designed in response to emerging needs
